Question

Darren Johnson, The debate about plastic bags appears to be another smokescreen designed to put the burden of climate change onto the individual. Do you think that instead of making people feel guilty about using plastic bags or going on a summer holiday, the focus should be on why the government isn’t doing more to promote reusable energy or encouraging the super-rich oil companies to develop greener energy sources?

Answer

Good thing about introducing legislation on plastic bags gives the responsibility to retailers and consumers, so everyone has part to play and it recognises that. So, consumer, government and business have to play they part. Legislation changes the way retailers and consumers behave and it is a win win situation. You should not just blame retailers or consumers.
