Question

  1. Gordon Brown, Could we have a "corruption amnesty" similar to the one China had recently and which encouraged 1,800 people to come forward? Or do you think we don't have any corrupt officials in the UK?

rezashah at Aug 03 2007 12:00:00 AM Why an amnesty for politicians? Hardly any other professions "permit" corruption. I say we need a hardline clampdown with subsequent arrests and imprisonments, regardless of what other countries do.
keithwhu at Aug 05 2007 12:00:00 AM I agree, in an ideal world, we would catch these guys and put them in prison. If we don't have the resources to do that though, then the next best thing i think, would be an amnesty. China found that by offering the amnesty they were able to uncover many more than the 1800 who came forward.
