Question

  1. Linvoy Primus, What do you think motivates certain players to ask for salaries in the region of 100k per week? Surely its not that they actually need that amount to live - is it greed or status, or something else?

Answer

A player is entitled to ask for what he likes. That doesn’t mean to say he will always get it. I think it is often a status thing as, like you say, sometimes it would be impossible to physically spend some of the amounts of money being mentioned. But there are very few players who are right at the top and asking for six-figure salaries, and those that are commanding those figures are earning for their clubs revenue significantly greater than that.
